چکیده

We prove that the motivic class of the classifying stack of every finite linear (or projective) reflection group is trivial in the Grothendieck ring of algebraic stacks over any field containing a primitive root of unity of degree the exponent of the group. Our proof of these geometric statements rests on a combinatorial analysis of a formula by T. Ekedahl that we interpret in terms of certain subspace arrangements associated to any representation of a finite group. As a byproduct we obtain different geometric applications based on previous results of the second author.

Defining Equations of Subspace Arrangements Embedded in Reflection Arrangements

We give explicit generators for ideals of two classes of subspace arrangements embedded in certain reflection arrangements, generalizing results of Li-Li and Kleitman-Lovasz. We also give minimal generators for the ideals of arrangements that arise in a natural way from the p-skeleton of an n-dimensional cube and discuss conditions under which the generators that we give form Gröbner bases

Subspace Arrangements of Type B N and D N Send Proofs To

Let Dn,k be the family of linear subspaces of R given by all equations of the form 1xi1 = 2xi2 = . . . = kxik , for 1 ≤ i1 < . . . < ik ≤ n and ( 1, . . . , k) ∈ {+1,−1}. Also let Bn,k,h be Dn,k enlarged by the subspaces xj1 = xj2 = . . . = xjh = 0, for 1 ≤ j1 < . . . < jh ≤ n. The special cases Bn,2,1 and Dn,2 are well known as the reflection hyperplane arrangements corresponding to the Coxete...

Characteristic Varieties of Arrangements

The k Fitting ideal of the Alexander invariant B of an arrangement A of n complex hyperplanes defines a characteristic subvariety, Vk(A), of the complex algebraic torus (C). In the combinatorially determined case where B decomposes as a direct sum of local Alexander invariants, we obtain a complete description of Vk(A). For any arrangement A, we show that the tangent cone at the identity of the...

Nice Reflection Arrangements

The aim of this note is a classification of all nice and all inductively factored reflection arrangements. It turns out that apart from the supersolvable instances only the monomial groups G(r, r, 3) for r > 3 give rise to nice reflection arrangements. As a consequence of this and of the classification of all inductively free reflection arrangements from Hoge and Röhrle (2015) we deduce that th...

Getting Customers' Motives: Lean on Motivation Theory for Designing Virtual Ideas Communities

Virtual ideas communities such as Dell’s “Ideastorm” or Intel’s “Ideazone” are very popular in practice. In such communities distributed groups of individual customers focus on voluntarily sharing and elaborating innovative ideas to support company's new products development. However, a look at existing ideas community leads to the conclusion that many of them are featured to the minimum necess...
